A journey through our September Travel Trip from shooting the SS13 collection in New York to the Vogue Talent & LFDW Pitti Touch! Exhibits in Milan.
SUPER AMAZING News! We’re now available on Moda Operandi! We love M’O because its the first site that actually lets you shop straight off the runway pieces before they are even available for sale in any other store/online outlet. How GENIUS is that?
We met the amazing Taylor Tomasi Hill in Florence at the Lagos Fashion and Design Week Pitti W exhibition stand and she absolutely loved the collection. The pieces will now be available for Pre-Order starting from Saturday, July 7! So go on guys, SHOP, SHOP, SHOP at www.modaoperandi.com !
We’re in Vogue! Zara featured alongside Omoyemi Akerele and Anita Quansah at the Carven Show in Florence. #Pitti W #LFDW
Day 3: The Trade show hours were 9am-6pm, so after the days work, we were ready for some fun. We drove to the Carven show, which was at a sports club. One of the best presentation type fashion shows I’ve ever seen. The models, some walking, others on bikes came onto the field with trumpets blowing in Spring brights. It was exciting! We had a table to ourselves and were literally in the presence of fashion greats. We got to meet Imran from Business of Fashion, and Tommy Ton (JakandJill blogger and Style.com street style photographer. I am obsessed with Tommy’s skill, I hope I contained my excitement. We were lucky enough to see him again at the BOFxPolimoda garden party later that evening.
A gorgeous lady by the name of Nora hosted us for dinner right after Carven. We then rushed off to the BOF where we took pictures in the BOF fashion booth. They asked us, “why do you love working in the business of fashion?”
*the first image is Omoyemi in JBL SS12 Silk Suit, she looked amazing and it was so appropriate for the event.
*I’m wearing the AW12 Blue Check Peplum blouse with a Zara pencil skirt.
Day 2: LFDW Press Meet & Peter Pilotto Presentation! We met the amazing Suzy Menkes from the NYTimes alongside other press from Vogue, Elle, I-D, etc. Suzy from Style Bubble came through as well. (Suzy Menkes thought it was quite chic how I wore the embellished dress with the silk jacket :-D)
It was such an honor to meet Taylor Tomasi Hill! We’re such huge style fans of hers, and so it was exciting when she stopped by the space.
At the PP show, they served desserts that probably dropped from heaven. They were absolutely delicious!
*I’m wearing the AW12 Obama Dress with the Burgundy check suit jacket.
*To PP, I am wearing a summer dress, custom made specially for me with our SS12 Vintage Love prints.
Day 1 was quite busy! We had buyer interests from all over Italy and Europe. Our amazing photographer, Claudio got us to do some really cheesy poses (that we couldn’t say no to). I’m embarrassed to say the least. Check out the Pitti W website and see for yourself. Lol!
Above, I’m with Omoyemi Akerele in my fave outfit from AW11. I’ve worn that skirt a 1,000 times atleast! Can’t help it. :-)
*I also wore the AW12 Blue ameoba peplum shorts suit
Our trip to Florence has come to an end! It was such a great experience; we partied, socialized with the fashion greats, made a lot of contacts, gained a lot of exposure for our brands and WORKED HARD! Early mornings and late nights was our routine - but it was FUN! We can’t thank God enough for the opportunities that came our way, but also we want to thank Omoyemi Akerele, fashion consultant, founder and producer of Lagos Fashion and Design Week and Style House Files (SHF). She collaborated with Pitti Immagine, bringing Nigeria via Sudan (Omer Asim) to Europe through Pitti W (the womenswear trade show). As the guest Nation, we had prime visibility at the exhibition. The feedback from our space was phenomenal, some say it was the best collaboration in years! We look forward to LFDW in Lagos. Its going to be exciting!
